St. Anthonys Girls High School
After the end of the 80 game league phase, the quarterfinals, the semi finals and the 3rd place games, it was time to witness the finals of the BFI IMG-Reliance School League. Conducted across 14 centers in Mumbai.St. Anthony’s Girls High School, Chembur declared champions of the Mumbai edition of the BFI IMG-Reliance School League.
Fr. Agnels, Navi Mumbai champions
Fr. Agnel’s, Navi Mumbai boys declared champions of the Mumbai edition of the BFI IMG-Reliance School League.Hansraj Morarji playing against Fr. Agnel’s at Fr. Agnel’s, was definitely going to be an uphill battle for them. They had also lost their league games against Fr. Agnel’s on both occasions. The game was neck and neck in the opening stages but playing on home turf, Fr. Agnel’s inched ahead behind their forward Vaishakh Nambiars contributions.
Divine Child High School and Bombay Scottish unbeaten
The Basketball action in the Group A girls’ pool of the 2013-14 BFI-IMG Reliance School Basketball League in Mumbai is heating up as top 2 teams, Divine Child High School, Andheri East and Bombay Scottish, Mahim are the only remaining unbeaten teams. Both these teams have won their league games by huge margins. Divine Child defeated Shishuvan School (Matunga)41-11 and then went on to defeat P G Garodia School (Ghatkopar East) and Auxilium Convent 36-12 and 40-16 respectively. Shreema Shetty top scored with 13, 9 and 17 respectively in these games and has been the star performer for Divine Child this season.
BFI-IMG Reliance School Basketball League
Vidyaniketan girls from Dombivili were coming from 3 straight victories and they needed another win to keep their momentum going in the 2013-14 BFI-IMG Reliance School Basketball League, but the girls from home team St. Anthony’s, Chembur had a different plan for their opponents. The game was probably evenly contested in the first quarter where St. Anthony’s was leading by just a margin of 3 points (7-4), but as the game progressed, the difference was apparent. By half time the girls from St Anthony’s had gained an unassailable lead of 13 points with the score reading 25-13 in their favour. Vidyaniketan tried to make a comeback of sorts in the 3rd period out scoring their opponents 10-4 but St. Anthony’s peaked at the right time to outscore their girls from Dombivili to edge their opponents 32-23. Sheryl with 13 points was the top scorer for St. Anthony’s and Rutvi Lotlikar with 9 points top scored for Vidyaniketan.
Bombay Scottish Girls Wins
Pool toppers Fr.Angels and D J Doshi remained in all their league games in the boys section and st Anthonys and Bombay Scottish remained unbeaten in the girls section to enter the quater finals of the IMG Reliance School League after two weeks of action.
