Reliance School Basketball League
Week 1 of the 2013-14 BFI-IMG Reliance School Basketball League saw some lop sided games as well as a few nerve-wreckers. The boys from St. Joseph – Wadala, Fr. Agnel’s – Navi Mumbai and the girls from Vidyaniketan – Dombivili are certainly showing that they are a class apart.
St. Joseph’s boys’ teams displayed great skills to beat Shishuvan School in both their home and away fixture by huge margins. They beat Shishuvan School 41-18 in their away game and at home they beat Shishuvan School, 42-26. St. Joseph also had an easy outing against Smt. Suluchanadevi Singhania School – Thane. They beat Singhania by a margin of 12 points thus topping the group with three straight wins. In all their game Smit Shinde and Mayank were the top scorers for St. Joseph’s. In their last game against Shishuvan at home, Smit scored 18 of their 19 first quarter points, finishing with a game high 27 points.
Elevating the Game
India's success and failures have been conducted yin and yang with the efforts of the public and the private sector. Where the government failed it's people, the people stepped up and created their own success.
And in basketball - where for decades the world's second-highest population has yet to take a notable step forward - we're finally going to have someone step up and help provide the professional training and support required to turn India's potential into reality.
